Het verhaal gat over Detective Michael Britten, die op een dag samen met zijn gezin een ernstig auto-ongeluk krijgt.
Vanaf dat moment begint zijn leven zich op mysterieuze wijze af te spelen in twee alternatieve realiteiten.
In eerste instantie krijgt Micheal te horen dat zijn vrouw Hannah bij het ongeluk om het leven is gekomen, daarna wordt Michael echter ineens wakker in de twee de
realiteit waarbij Rex zijn zoon bij het ongeluk is gestorven.
