"The Blues comes up in two categories: raw and cooked.
If you prefer raw, then Paul Jones might be your bleeding hunk of flesh."
(as they used to say at fatpossum's in 1999)

Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine from AMG
Like most releases on Fat Possum (including his first effort, Mule), Paul Jones' second album, Pucker Up Buttercup, boasts a raw, careening sound and enthusiastically gritty performances that makes it an easy album to enjoy. The problem is, there's not much there — the songs are merely vehicles for the performances. That results in a record that is enjoyable while it's playing, but ultimately a little unmemorable.
